Best of Arijit Singh

Very few people know Arijit Singh from the time of a reality show ‘Fame Gurukul’ in which he appeared as a contestant and I am one of them. And today when we see him it can be seen such a big sensation he has become. A year and a half ago I had told my cousin that if this guy has to stay on top of his game then he will have to keep on reinventing the wheel again and again… Today when I look back at the hits he has given, I am really convinced that he is highly versatile and he has a number of hits to give. So without making you bore further, here I present to you my favourite Arijit Singh songs:

Tum hi ho (Aashiqui 2):
The song that became the heartbeat of the nation. Arijit Singh became a very common name and so did Mithoon the composer and lyricist of this beautiful song.

Phir Le Aya Dil (Barfi):
Such a soulful composition by Pritam and performed in an even more soulful voice. This song shows how emotional can Arijit be.

Sajde (Kill Dill):
‘Woh bheeg rahi hai paani me aur aag lagi hai paani me’ (Gulzar’s soulful lyrics)

Though the movie was a disaster but this song is one of the most special songs sung by Arijit. It showed the power his voice has and he can actually carry high-pitched and fast-paced songs.

Janam Janam (Dilwale):
Can Arijit’s voice suit on Shah Rukh khan? No, would be a perception but this song redefined romance as SRK’s iconic DDLJ pose was so purely immortalized on Pritam’s fantastic composition. Thank You Arijit, this was really special.

Laal Ishq (Ram- Leela):
There are two Arijit songs which are exceptional and really close to my heart. Both by composed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. They guy knows how to bring out the best in Arijit.

Aayat (Bajirao Mastani):
There are some songs which you start loving from the first time you hear it. One of Arijit’s best is this song which is so well shown in the movie. Once again SLB shows us how beautifully Arijit’s voice can produce pain and separation.

Humari Adhuri kahani (Humari Adhuri Kahani):
Another disaster movie on the box-office but the only pleasure was this sad composition by Jeet Ganguli. The various transitions and the peaceful voice of Arijit makes this song one of the best of 2015.

Man Mast Magan (2 states):
This was the only song I enjoyed from the movie. It proved that Arijit has a very great cinematic voice. A special mention to Shankar Ehsaan Loy for composing so nicely.

Mai Tenu Samjhava Ki (Humpty Sharma ki Dulhaniyaan):
This DDLJ rip off wasn’t a very refreshing watch but this song stole a million hearts. It again became a chartbuster and it felt as if every song Arijit touched became gold.

Soch Na Sake (AirLift):
The only song from the movie which is ruling the charts. recently I found out it is the hindi version of a punjabi song, just like Mai tenu Samjhavan Ki was of Rahet Fateh Ali Khan. But Arijit nailed it and the song has become the first hit of 2016.

So my top 10 list ends here. There is no order specified but these all are equally close to my heart. I want to give a special mention to another Arijit song.

Agar Tum Saath ho (Tamasha):
Yes this is more of an Alka Yagnik song and Arijit has very less part in it. But one important thing to notice is the way Rahman textured Arijit’s high as well as low pitch voices together and presented it in this song. That made this song so very special to me.

So here ends my list. I hope you enjoyed. Do share your favourites in the comment section below.
